In Florida, there are always a significant number of motorcyclists on the state roads. The agreeable climate and litany of activities are beneficial for people who enjoy getting on their bikes and traveling throughout the state. Sadly, there is no denying that motorcyclists are frequently injured and lose their lives in a crash.

Florida ranked fourth in the nation in motorcycle deaths

Recent statistics indicate Florida is near the top in terms of motorcycle fatalities. According to QuoteWizard, 600 motorcyclists lost their lives in Florida in 2020. This was the most in the U.S. for that year. Riders and their safety advocates are lamenting drivers’ willingness to ignore the law and fundamentals for safety. Abate Florida, a nonprofit safety group, is speaking out about drivers of cars and trucks and how they are placing riders at risk.

According to the safety group, drivers lack focus on the road and this is putting riders in jeopardy. The group encourages riders to take safety classes to understand what they are facing when they take off on their motorcycles. Still, the number of drivers who are distracted, reckless, drive at excessive speed and simply do not see motorcycles will keep riders in danger.

A motorcycle accident can cause physical, personal and financial challenges

Any motor vehicle accident can cause serious injuries and fatalities, but motorcyclists are especially vulnerable. The lack of protection can exacerbate injuries and lead to brain trauma, spinal cord injuries, broken bones, internal damage and much more. Riders must think about their future after they have been in a collision. The same is true for families who lost a loved one in a motorcycle crash.

To achieve justice after a motorcycle accident, it is wise to be diligent. That includes accruing evidence, determining the cause of the collision and knowing if the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the rider was under the influence, speeding, distracted or drowsy. Having help from professionals who are established in the area, know the residents’ concerns and are experienced in personal injury cases can be key to recovering compensation.
